pssst,
Hey Werner:
Roger's foto was from a time when people were real big time serious about getting their picture taken, 'K?

...not like these guys:

Tim Messick, Bruce Brossman, Bob Ashworth, Doug Kerr, Bruce Hawkins, at "The Rat Room", T Meadows, 1987.

I had never seen a photo of Tobin, except for that one of him on Insomnia, wearing cords with his wallet sticking out of his back pocket.

It would be great if anyone else had other pics of him.

I'd love to see them.

Thanks.

These are the only two pictures that I have depicting climbers in groups greater than 3. It was fun finding the first pic since it was the first time that I'd met several of the people in it...and I've known them all now for many years. They'd tell you that the funny thing about the picture was that it 'round about the time I nearly killed them with my driving (they learned). The second if from a women's self rescue clinic that an excellent woman named Olga w/ whom I've lost touch had set up at the Davis Rocknasium.

Who says it's hard to herd climbers? I mean, they stay in the same places, behave consistently, wear similar clothes, and, to make it easy, insist on tieing themselves together.

A (small) group from Squamish, 1978. Left to right Simon Tooley, anonymous, Tami Knight, Peter Croft.

The memorial for Daryl Hatten, summit of Stawamus Chief, September 2004:
Front Row (left to right)
Dean Hart, Dave Vernon, Kevin McLane, dog hindquarters, Rick Clements, Richard Alden, Tami Knight, Ward Robinson, Dave Nicol, Dave Lane, Wayne Miller, Dave Fulton, John Arts, John Howe.

Back Row (left to right)
Scott Flavelle, Joe Turley, part of a head, Gordie Smaill, Mark Gandy (part of head), Jim Brennan, Randy Atkinson, Greg Foweraker, Don Serl, Perry Beckham, Hamish Fraser, Dave Yerian, Rick LeDuc (part of head), Bruce MacDonald, Simon Tooley, Stewart Wozny, Bruce Kay, Errol Weis, Jim Sinclair, Peder Ourom.

Bunch of tards (no one infamous, yet); but there's something to be said for chillin midday,
whip up a sammich and beer, and go back to it for more bouldering on granite.

Blinny,
It’s possible it could have been the summer of 1978, but I am sure it is no earlier than that.

Here is one somewhat more recently showing that life goes on but the meadows are forever.
