You wouldn't be talking that Cali smack if the Dodgers & Giants were now based in Colly-rad-o...

Jessica Ofelia Mendoza - (born November 11, 1980) is an American former softball player and broadcaster. At Stanford University, Mendoza was a four-time First Team All-American for the Stanford Cardinal from 1999–2002, and was a member of the United States women's national softball team from 2004–2010. She played professionally in National Pro Fastpitch. Mendoza owns numerous Cardinal records.[1][2][3] She is currently a member of the broadcast team for ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball.

looks like the Giants will be into the Dodger bullpen fairly early although Maeda isn't pitching poorly, he's just throwing alot of pitches

EDIT: I spoke too soon. He got it together to go 7 innings for the win, and getting into the Dodgers bullpen didn't seem to go so well for the Giants anyaway

go Angels!

Jim, since when are you an Angels fan? Unless I am misremembering decades of existence, you have always been that worst of all possible baseball fans--a Yankees fan not from New York. What happened to make you abandon pinstripped existence for the Los Angeles rally monkeys of Anaheim? I can't think of one thing that connects you to Disneyland. Or is it the size of your man-crush on Mike Trout that has made you abandon your man-crush on Alex Rodriguez? Trout certainly seems less of a disgrace to the sport. And to sportsmanship in general. But still. Admiring Bryce Harper's talent doesn't turn me into a Nationals fan. The Angels? Really? I just threw up in my mouth.

Let go, Oakland!

Took my son Ryan and his pal Adam out to the yard on Saturday to see the A's v. KC Royals. Great seats just beyond third base, a gift for my 50th birthday a couple weeks ago. Right in front of a leatherlungs so overweight he wouldn't have been able to field a groundball to save his ass, but I was able to mellow him out by the end of the third inning with some actual facts. Phew.

Sonny Gray didn't have his best stuff, but gutted through six innings. Gave up a run in the top of the first, but Josh Reddick got it back and then some in the bottom half with a cannon shot into the right field seats for a 3-1 lead, one the A's wouldn't relinquish. The Good Guys added another in the second.

New 1B Yonder Alonzo started a crucial 3-6-1 doubleplay to crush out a Royals threat in the 5th (and save Jed Lowrie's E-4ing hide) and went 2 for 3 on the day. He would have had a third hit on a can of corn to shallow left but for an excellent running-to-the-left-field-line and diving catch by Royals 3B Mike Moustakis that unfolded right in front of us. Major league play, that.

Stephen Vogt launched a howitzer over the right center field wall in the 7th on his replica jersey giveaway day.

John Axford quieted the enemy for an inning and two-thirds. Sean Doolitte came on and got Jeff Gordon to fly out to DEEP center field to end the 8th, and Ryan Madson came on for the save in the top of the 9th protecting a 5-2 lead. Took him seven pitches to find the strike zone and then Jed Lowrie's SECOND E-4 of the afternoon put runners at first and second. Enter Salvador Perez, KC's superb catcher, representing the tying run. He stung a ball into Jed Lowrie's glove, who started a 4-6-3 to get the first two outs. Yunel Escober singled up the middle to bring Moustakis to the plate and give KC a second shot with the tying run at the plate. He hit a looper, caught by Lowrie, to send us home winners. Not great relief, but just good enough.

Greg, lot's of Giants fans here and the biggest discrace to the sport in this century was, without the shadow of doubt, Barry Bonds.
I might switch back to New York if the stupid repubs there help propel Trump to the nomination.

I'd burn in hell before I'd pull for the Giants.

But you still haven't explained your love affair with the rally monkey.

And we're setting the bar VERY low here, but I think Barry Bonds might be a better guy than A-Rod. Even if just by a skosh.

Raised a Dodgers fan. Never considered it when I moved to the Bay Area in 2002. Oddly, if I'd have moved a few years later, I'd have probably stayed a Dodgers fan due to the excellence of the MLB app that lets you listen to any game. But, when I came north in 2002, it was either Giants or A's, and for me, that was a no brainer. If I ever move again, I'll stay an A's fan.
