Good stuff, everyone. The buddies that are no longer around is tough, I know. I've had lots of buddies come and go.
Love the one you're with and cherish the memories of the ones gone.

My father once had a cockapoo named Max, who went everywhere with him. Anyway, Max lost an eye, but it didn't make any difference to him. My father used to take Max snowshoeing - he went regularly in winter with some friends. When Max got tired, he got a ride in the top of the rucksack, on top of everything, where he could either have a snooze, or sit with his nose sticking out. Wish I had a photo of it - it was very cute. (I'll check with my dad.)

Still grieving the loss of my sweet, old boy Clancy in October, the dog stars aligned last week and sent this little angel my way:
He and his littermates were rescued from the streets of Taiwan in November. I adopted him through a Seattle rescue group(Saving Great Animals and http://www.saltydogrescue.com/taiwandogs/.)
Holding him for first time after he cleared customs at Seatac airport:
Koji is adjusting well to his new life in the Pacific Northwest...
...all except for the weather.(It was much warmer in Taiwan)
And he's already styled his first boulder problem in the yard!

You were rewarded for your love of Clancy! We (dog-lovers) all miss our fallen buddies. They make life much more awesome. Kinda hard to put into words. When life kicks you in the nutsack (or Virginia), the dog is always there giving you that look of a buddy, trying to cheer you up.
Hard to describe what they give us unconditionally. I can see tears welling up in that second pic you posted too. You kick ass!!!! Tears of a dog-person...

Clancy was the first dog I've had from puppyhood to old age...losing him hit harder than I knew it could. I don't expect this little guy to fill Clancy's shoes, but it feels good to have somewhere to put all that love again. Koji is the yang to Clancy's yin...I think we'll learn a lot of new things together and have a loads of fun along the way.
Bluering, the tears really fell after I turned away from the camera...and first thing Koji did was tenderly reach up to lick them off my cheeks. Talk about unconditional love. :))
@Ricardo, looks like your pack is enjoying some great snow-dog fun out there!

Congrats again on your new buddy. You two will be happy together. It shows.
Be sure to update this thread on a regualr basis with his progress and development.

We just celebrated the one year anniversary of our rescue of Jack. He was on death row with a mangled paw and just skin and bones. Why nobody wanted him still boggles my mind. Smart, playful and loves to run all day---the perfect trail dog. (He still needs to work on his crag etiquette, but he's getting there.) Just so glad we got him.
