hey there say, cragman.... say, critters are so fun that way, for sure.... course, please take care with him (not meaning you're not, but i am like a mommmmy gramma at times)--
my auntie, that we loved, she fell through the ice a few years back, in her own pond that she had worked/walked on in the iced-condition...
we will never know what went wrong that year, if the ice was not ready (though she must have learned the signs after 50 years or so of doing that?) but whatever happened, the ice cracked and she fell in, and drowned...
some family had warned her not rescue her dog, if it fell in, due to such same things of being on the ice--she could have done that (as her new dog was not understanding about running out to the ice), as, she HAD rescued another one of her previous dogs, at a time in the past...
of course, family was upset at her, not wanting an accident to happen to her... and that year, one of them HAD warned her not to go after her dog, "if"...
the dog was safe at home, though, yapping all day, until someone came in the evening and saw that she was not to be found, and her tracks led to the pond... :(
so please, mom/gramma neebee, says, please take care...
:)
edit: ooops, forgot, i sure do love the refelction-pup, picture, though, :)
god bless...

hey there say, ekat... oh man oh man, i can really picture my auntie doing that very same thing to her first dog that had that experience....
i think it was a BIG dog, too, like yours was...
we will never know what happened, this last time she was on the ice...
she couold have been taking in wood for the island, or clearning ice for ducks, who knows... she took care of pond for years... though family wished she would have let it be... :( now we know--we never knew of this winter chore, though neighbors did...
well, her newest little adopted dog (a took-in stray) just ran on the ice, at any whim...(so we heard tell)...
here is a link, and oddly, i just found it by accident, while checking out
yorkshire weather...
this lady saved her dog, after it was chasing ducks, though
help had arrived, so her life wasn't lost:

yes, dear pup-dogs, WE REALLY DO LOVE YOU!!!!!...
TAKE CARE, folks of your pup-dogs this year....
they are not understanding what they are up against, at times...
oh my!
*thanks for doggie rescue story, ekat, as to you "precious one"
hugs, too...hard memories...

I like the theory that humans and dogs co-evolved.
I also continue to smile for no good reason at all these pictures of other people's dogs.

Yep.
Rosebud is awesome too! I like Euroford's collies too. Majestic dogs, fo' sho'!
Prolly in the top 10 of best threads ever!!!! Chiloe, we disagree on all kinds of sh#t, but I admire your admiration of dogs. It signals a good, decent person in my book.
You're a good man in my book, based soley on that, that's all I need to know about a person. There are people who can give or take a dog or tolerate them, and then there're those that respect and love them, treating them almost as equals.
We have found common ground, dude. I'd give a shout-out to all the others, but thankfully, they're too many!
Keep the magic alive, dads, as some obscure person once said!!!!
Thanks for being a human to your little human buddies.
