you got any thoughts on best dog coat for for winter alpinish conditions there F? ran into a sunny warm wet bit down low the other day, gained a shaded windy cirque above and had an icy-legged bail-begging mutt staring woefully up at me from inside his inadequate windbreaker.

I guess it depends on the conditions. Dog coats in the snow just ice up next to the body. (Unless it’s really dry).
Depending on the breed, just lots of high fat snacks and short down time is the best I’ve found. ( Climbing isn’t the best for dogs because of the high down time to move time ratio in the winter.)
Tell her to suck it up. I’ve only seen doggie frostbite one time.
That guy lost a testicle to frostbite after partying all night in below zero temps and sleeping on his passed out dads doorstep. Gnar.

word. that cold but sun-wet and windy stuff is generally PITA for sure. but like you say, they are tougher than we. amazing they'll freeze a nut to death before blistering up that wet nose.

F*#kNA.
My buddies dog Nanook is the subject of a Mag article next month. He’s done the Eklutna traverse spontaneously naked and foodless a half dozen times. Tagged along for hundreds of pow laps in the storm with random folks.
Just like humans. It’s all in your mind.
If that’s all you know, it’s no big deal.

Whoa, Tadman, that hound looks so much like our dearly departed Django.

Here's a pic of our new love, Patch, digging the view from the Sad's and our couch...

Just brought this little guy home last night. His name is Xander, Pit Cane Corso mix. He’s already identified me as his protector, to my wife’s chagrin. Eight weeks old, and our nine year old lab is taking to him fairly well. More photos later. My heart has melted, this dog is adorable.
