Today is Ferret's birthday but he's a 1000 miles away.
He hardly ever drinks so I'll drink the one that should be for him.

Spring has finally sprung in south Idaho. It hit 67 f. yesterday in Choss Creek, the snowdrifts have nearly melted away, & although it is three weeks later than last year, our asparagus is finally sprouting.
Meanwhile, although it is melting in the hills, there is still the largest snowpack in recent history up there in South Idaho's Mountains.
I've been waiting for years to see what might happen to the rich folks, who have built their vacation homes next to mountain rivers, to discover why, in the old days, it was the poor folks who lived down by the river.

hey there say, all... can't get back and see all the posts, now...

wow, i did the last few:
LOVE to see that asparagus, showing up, fritz!!
wow, we are 'not due' to even FEEL warm here until after the first
week of april...
to someone like me, from warm hot areas, i really do not
know 'how the norm' is here...
i just keep peeking at the ol' acue weather montly maps,
that show the diff, between last year and now...
and WHAT it is 'likely' to be, this week, and the next,
etc...
so for now, we got light snow drizzle today, and some for tomorrow, and then,
i think: cloudly, rainy, etcs... for a bit...
still in the mainly 35'3 to 45's (rounding it off, as best i can) ... and lows down to 20's and up to 30's...
so not fully THAT BAD NOW... but wow-- I SURE miss the warm states,
as to spring and summers, :)
*drinnking nice hot tea now, :)
might have a glass of wine, later, :)

Last night I decided to do my St. Paddy's drinkin' on Main. I was treated to a good brew by a friend at the Public House, then had one on the walk home at 510 Bistro, chatting up Melissa, serving drinks in the bar.
It was by far a mellower time than I'd have had tonight drinkin' with a bunch of drunken Irishers and Irish wannabes, seeing all that good beer get dyed green, matching color of the spew to come later tonight.
I drank a really good blond from Coronado Brewing, their "Specialty," on tap.

Rombauer Chard??
O'Really? Is this knott the Chard against which all others are compared? Beautiful Brenda always told me this. She got a bottle every year at some Ahwahnee shindig, but did she EVER open it when I was there??? Nooooooo...... [what a bee-otch]
Anyway, I sacked up and bought a bottle of the stuff last year, and guess what? It was 30-something bucks, and it was 'no hell' at all. 'No hell' is Hoser-speak for not very good, mediocre, nothin' special. I mean it was nice and all, but not thirty-something bucks nice. There are much better Chards to be had for less $, that's for sure.
What did you think of yours, Phylp?

I drink a bottle or two a year. I really like it but I'd get sick of it if that's all I drank. It's got a very pronounced butterscotch finish and a heavy richness to it that I like sometimes but not everyday.
Recently I have liked the Chappellet chard from Napa
And this one:
The fabelist, and this one from Chile:
Which is a very good value.

It's cold on Alyeska, but it hasn't snowed in a month. (No refresh in sight...) Hopefully you arent scheduled with CPG... Bring yours skins, there's some pow on Orca that survived the 3 wind events since the last snowfall.
Bonus is the new brewery in town just opened, but the beer is so-so. And only 36 oz per person per day on site consumption as per state law....
