Our town demands yearly rabies shots, so last weekend my wife took Penny for hers while I was out climbing.

She had a reaction to the shot, and when I got home, her face was all blown out of proportion. Apparently it had been much worse than this, but after a frantic call to a veterinary hospital, followed by a call to the breeder, my wife ended up running out for Benedryl and slamming one down her throat.

I am sure Penny would have rather gone climbing with me.

At least the swelling was going down by the time I saw her.

Walking down the kite. (the string's anchored about 400' behind me)

I have four dogs. One follows me everywhere I go - Velcro Dogs, they're called - and the other three don't give a damn.

eKat,

Bouvier des Flandres, from north eastern France and Belgium. Great dogs, most are black with cropped ears, they are an old world bred of herders and cart pullers.

We have three all fawn color, the bred was nearly lost during WWI hauling the wounded from the front. Also legend has it one bit Hitler in the ass so he put a price on their head, I love that one and can only hope it was one of Gus' distant relatives.

hey there all...say, patty loves doing tricks...
but NOT a certain one... but:

wow, patty finally has DONE it...

:)
she started out a bit slow though:

first here is her "pitiful" roll over" ...
she would freeze up, in a ball, and not move...

so---i little by little taught her on the sofa...
:)

then, when i said "roll over" she'd run to the sofa, and do this:

now, the other day, few days back, she did this!
she finally does it.... :)

she gets this wild glint in her eyes and races around, and seems to say:
"so you want me to roll over, huh? well, i'll show YOU a roll over...
just you WATCH THIS!"...

then, she rubs her head in the grass, and tests it, and rolls her shoulder into it, and then sudden after a few pushes... there she goes...

then, she wants to run around all silly after she does it:
but, she wants her treats, FIRST! OH MY...

here is the final results, of much coaching:

here is a bit of that WILD LOOK she gets, to "get into it"...

NOW:
here's her other newest trick, in case any of you all missed it:

edit: oops, forgot, credit to unknown original artist, and
then, to patty, who just could NOT let this "cat" out do her... :)

Love this thread!!!

Here's Sombra:

...in her former life as a super canine. Leaping bounds,

Scaling new heights:

Defying gravity:

We were training French Ring, until I decided it was a better investment of time, energy, and money just getting out and loving the great outdoors!

eKat,

They don't get overly anxious with thunder and I'd say Gus is pretty mellow and loves people although he does challenge other alpha male dogs. He did freak out at our beginning of the ski season waxing party when some bombs went off and disappeared for a hour or more. Ginger has a lot more energy and really does not like people all that much. Gus' mom is totally mellow, he was one of 13 puppies! The one thing about Bouvier's is they have major hair. They don't shed but if you don't keep them cut they'll turn into a wooly beast. The other thing is they are not great in snow, the hair between their pads ice up and they end up with powder balls hanging all over them. They are extremely loyal to their masters and a great family dog. We'll always have Bouvier's, they're great.

I was impressed by Sombra's jumping talents, then even more so by how the story turned.

Mighty: Thanks, I got it to work. All it took was a little patience for my dinosaur of a computer to download.

neebee: She IS mighty! I really lucked out!

Charlie D.: You could try smearing a little Vaseline in between your dogs pads to prevent ice balls from forming. Or buy booties, which are a little less dignified but amusing nonetheless.

Chiloe: Sombra is equally impressive scaling class 5's and leaping over fallen logs, and dare I say, more fulfilled and stimulated!
