Going to visit Ekat Susan??
Nate ya I heard about it. Did someone really try and grab the cops gun or was that us bs? I had a buddy there who watched the whole confrontation, and he said the cops had lost control and no one was listening to them which prompted their reaction.

No, Big Mike, she's not in Bozeman. we'll head to Bridger Bowl and Hyalite Canyon. Ekats way up near the Candian Border.
Thanks T**R, snow will eventually get to California. What's up there will make a fine base. Just need lots of the fluffy stuff to overlay it.

Wow, that story about Sunday is crazy. All the patrol officers in Whistler are rookies, it's a good first stop out of the academy since "real" crime is minimal. Dealing with drunks, stolen bikes & boards & traffic citations are the major focus. A lot of the officers are young & have been known to be a little cocky with their new position, for this reason they don't always get a lot of respect from the younger party crowd. Luckily nobody got seriously hurt, except the kid who got arrested probably took a bit of an extra lickin' from the boys for causing the scene.
Sorry for the OT, here's a quick shaky edit of my first run o the season the other day- so fun!

Susan, Bridger has been getting hammered with snow and is in great shape for pre-Christmas schussing...
It's a good sign at Discovery when you have to shovel off the roof to read the temp guage :-)

Yeah I was there. I know someone did actually *touch* a cop's gun, but I don't know whether or not they actually tried to grab it. The guy getting arrested (not posting names for privacy) wasn't the person who did that, as may have been reported by some media.
He also didn't yell anything at the cops, aside from asking why he was being arrested and what are his rights.
The only resisting arrest that occurred was him lying down and not moving - he didn't try and fight them. There is a lot of video of it, so hopefully that will be able to clear some of the charges. The crowd didn't encourage him to resist, they just yelled at the cops.

Skied Bridger Bowl last Saturday and Sunday, AWESOME! Love that place, hopefully the storm coming ashore now in Northern CA will bring more than rain to the Tahoe Sierra!

Looks like we're choosing between Whistler and Bozeman here. Hard choice. Whistler/Blackcomb is huge. Big Sky has the intensive cold that preserves the snow.
Whistler
Big Sky
But it's Utah that keeps me coming back. A direct flight and the Pow never disappoints.

Tram is open at Big Sky and the kids are killin' it there--foot and a half of 20 degree fluff for most of this week...
edit: the pics of Whistler are more than promising, too!

Thanks Ekat. That must have been some crazy z-drag setup! Hey isn't Big open now? Did you get up skeezin yet?!
John- tough choice indeed. The snow has been very good here if that skews your opinion at all. I haven't been to big sky or any Utah resorts so I can't compare, but you know we have the acreage. If there is one place I would like to ride in the states it would be Jackson. Sounds like they have some gnar!!

I am booked for Jackson. Last time, we arrived in a Blizzard. Don't recommend this, we were late.
We also arrived in Whistler during a huge dump. SUVs flipped over like mad coming up from Vancouver.
But well worth it. The day after, about 20,000 people came up from SEA/TAC. They were jumping off a cliff. Not trying to land on their feet either. People landing on their backs, headfirst, it even put Tuckerman to shame.

John- that's the trouble with booking in advance eh? You never know what Mother Nature has planned for you. Ya vancouverites are pretty useless in the snow. Even if they have chains/ winter tires.... 4x4 only let's you go faster, it won't stop ya any quicker....
Ekat you know I wanna see more pics! It's nice to have friends in the right places sometimes eh? I always stop to see if people need help when I'm out sledding. I'd hate to be stuck and not have others offer the same.
Edit I hear you about the man made too. We started out on that and it was hard for me to get stoked on it too..

sick t*r! What mountain were you shredding today?
Here's my report.
2cms was the official overnight total.
Everything was pretty pooched so we hiked up to the Blackcomb Glacier which wasn't open yet.
My buddy Rick at the top of the blowhole
Our line, The Blowhole
It was pretty darn whiteout up there. After you exit the blowhole if you go right you get into a wide open glacier with 0 reference points. Talk about vertigo....
I took this pano before we dropped in at the toe of the glacier.
That was it, we jumped on the chair again but were more interested in some glassware in the valley so we peaced out.
Still a sick day.. Gotta love living 5 minutes from the lifts.

It's hard to leave a place like whistler, but mike you have to check out the Utah powder. Bring your own beer though.
