Nice report. Felt like I was reliving my own experience 20 years ago doing the same routes and even getting off route on the last pitch of the Zodiac. Isn't leading in blocks just for speed climbing? I've always just swapped leads every pitch.

Glad you all liked it. It's a bit long, but I just got carried away writing.
Yeah, "block leading" was what all the cool kids seemed to be doing. We just hadn't realised they weren't doing it on 5 day ascents of Zodiac...

Good stuff! Yeah, it's been about 30+ years since you could sleep in your car in the Valley without being hassled. And the NE Buttress of HCR as your warm-up - impressive.
