Some amazing campus traverses and mantel problems, lots of V0-V4 stuff which is they extent of what I can comment on. I was in flip-flops and focusing on non-climber kid-friendly adventures, so didn’t fully exploit or document the climbing opportunities. Beach bouldering heaven in a few hundred square feet, but many more similar formations probably exist along this stretch of the Oregon coast.

Just barely north of Cape Perpetua... on north side of the river south of Yachats.

And here’re the kids chillin’ in kayaks exploring the Alsea River by grandma’s place, while I dig in to a new book. It’s a milestone- first time my daughter heads off for kids-only adventures while the adults act like old people.

I love posts about parents and kids on any kind of climbing or hiking trip. And from my Humboldt years, I love evocations of little climbed costal rock anywhere north of Mendocino. Climbing on saltwater sea seasoned rock is distinct from inland rock.

xCon, yep it took me a bit to get into it, but enjoying it now. I'm curious how many people would enjoy it who don't have a prior deep exposure to the Indian culture. A lot of the dialog and slang would not be intelligible, and a lot of the character name references to famous or historical figures would not be obvious. I saw enough odd/funny juxtapositions that I recognized, so I started looking up each name I was not familiar with, and it does seem to be quite dense in terms of layered meaning and references. And tons of opportunity to learn about stuff I never had any exposure to. I'm still pretty early in the book, taking it slow.



And Darwin, just for you... some pics down Big Sur way (Granite Creek? Or something like that- an unusual outcropping amidst the other rock of the region) back from winter break earlier in the year. I meant to make a trip report of that and didn't manage to do so yet.
