Congradulaions, climbing El Cap is one of the most memorable experiences of my life. My first time up I was scared to death and probably not a fun partner, but the second time it was just climbing.
I'm more interested in your routes in Peru. Got any beta for us on that? Do you need permits, did you get a guide, etc? In Ecuador I just showed up with no gear and got guided up Cotopaxi, over 19,000 feet, for a total cost of $130. If I'm not mistaken most everyone on supertopo has climbed el cap but only dream about international destinations.

What a great route eh?!! Congrats!
However, without being rude I hope, let me say that I truly prefer peoples TR's here on Supertopo rather than a blog link.
I guess it's just me.....

MMM hooking is soo fun.
I notice you're tied in with ouut using the upper hole on your skyhook.
If you thread one end of the webbing you're making you tie in with through each hole and tie your knot there (water knot works best) the hooks have a bit of caming action.
Survival - If you have a blog and want post your TR then you have to upload all the pics again...

not true luke. You just need to resize your images before you load them on your blog so you can hotlink them to the site without being all huge.
Of course that limits the hits on your blog..... ;)

We were up in El Cap Gully over the weekend working some new routes. Perhaps you heard us trundle some loose stuff. We heard some hammering at night but don't know if that was you.

Don paul: check earlier entries in my log and there is all info you need for Peru. In short, we didn't use a guide and the routes were pretty straight forward. Send me a pm if more interested and we can chat.
Survival: apologize bout the format but it is just too much work (I'm on the road with limited Internet access) to convert entries from my blog. I wanted to post so People could have the beta - guess its better than not posting it.
The kidcirmier: great tip! Still learning.
Banquo. The hammering wasn't us but good stuff setting new routes!

Re: hooking: it doesn't make a different on giant edges like the one in your photo buut make a world of difference (at least psychologically) on more precarious hook placements.
Are you staying in the valley for the rest of wall season?

The kid corner: last wall this season. I'm headed back to south America soon for some alpine climbing-but will be back psyched for next season!
