Two climbers enjoying the soft evening light on El Capitan Spire on the Salathé Wall. This is probably the most spectacular ledge on El Capitan. This ledge is complete detached from the wall and, when you stand on it, FEELS like it is floating.

Why do the shadows NOT match the actions of the people on the ledge?

The shadows do match. The guy on the left is flaking the rope his hands are hidden by the spire and he's facing a the southwest, his shadow has a different angle because of the wall. The guy on the right is getting stuff out of the haul bag, the angle of the spire again is hiding the bag. If you look close you can just see the top of the bag showing above the edge of the spire. They do look a little funny though.
