My dad ran into the gang just below Barker Ranch a short time before he was caught. My dad was camping in his Jeep with his buddy when a group came down from Barker and said they had been watching my dad and his friend since they set up camp. My dads family knew the Barkers and my dad got a funny feeling something wasn’t quite right. The gang invited my dad and his friend to a party at the ranch that night, they politely accepted and as soon as the gang drove away they loaded up and split. It was a short time later that Barker Ranch was raided. I always think I may not exist if my pops did end up going to that party. Things could have turned out much different or my dad would have one hell of a story to tell.

Upthread someone (Walleye?) asked if Manson actually ever killed anyone himself. It has also been a long time since I read Helter-Skelter, and that surely isn't definitive, but my recollection is that he is described at one point of being the actual killer in at least one of the unconfirmed Manson "Family" murders. However legally that is not a significant distinction in his case. Not only did he direct others to do the killings (and provided the weapons)--which in itself is legally sufficient for guilt, but in several of the murders he was even more directly involved. In particular in the LaBianca killings he was the one who first entered the home, assaulted the couple at gunpoint, and tied them up, before letting his 'children' finish the job after he left. My recollection is that he also sliced Gary Hinman's ear off, again immediately prior to the murder.

Some time ago one of Charlies roomates tried to beat his azz.. Charlie made it back into his cage avoiding the azz whupping....His guitar got smashed...Roast in Hell bitch..
